Third wave has began in TN: Health Minister

The third wave of COVID-19 has began in Tamil Nadu, said Health Minister Ma. Subramanian. Although vaccination has been accelerated and the number of vaccinated people crossed the 8.5 crore-mark, the daily case tally in the state has gone beyond the 1500-mark. He said the cases has been raising incrementally in the past few days, while inspecting the 17th mega vaccination camp in Chennai. The Minister also mentioned that more beds are being prepared for the newly infected patients. The Health Department has proposed a protocol followed by the United Kingdom, under which the patients with Omicron variant are monitored virtually. It invovles monitoring the patients’ oxygen level and if it falls below 92, they are advised to visit a hospital.
