Railway General Manager Review

It is customary for the General Manager, Southern Railway to inspect a section of the railway line once a year in Chennai, Salem, Trichy, Madurai, Palakkad and Thiruvananthapuram. Accordingly, on Monday (13.12.2021) he inspected the Madurai – Trichy double track “up line”.
First, General Manager John Thomas, who started the inspection at Madurai Railway Station at 9 am, inspected the modern signal arrangements at the Madurai Railway Station. He then inspected the passenger facilities and walkway on the first platform. He then inspected and advised on the new building projects of the Madurai Railway Station through a special video screen.
The new railway station will be a two-storey building.
There are also plans to build a tunnel from the railway station to the Periyar bus station.
The general manager told reporters: Pamban bridge works will be completed soon. Passenger trains that operated before the Corona infection will be operated gradually, he said. During the inspection, the General Manager was accompanied by Chief Commercial Manager Ravi Valluri, Chief Rail Operations Manager Sri Kumar and Chief Engineer Prafulla Verma.
