Planting of Ooty flower spectacle begins

After the long year of lockdown, the Queen of Hills is getting ready for the exciting flower show by briding her slopes with flowers around the world. Forest Minister K. Ramachandran inaugrated the planting of flowering plants at the Botanical Garden in Udhagamandalam. The Horticulture Department has mentioned that more that more than 275 varities of flowering plants is would be on public display. Plants seeds had been imported from all around the world, including Japan, the USA, Netherlands and some parts of India. The planting of flower saplings begins at the time considering the plants’ blooming period. By the time flower show would be held, more than 5.5 lakh plants would be planted in the Garden. The officials said the event would only be held based on the COVID-19 situation prevailaing at the time the event was organised.
