Highest rainfall after a decade in Coimbatore

Data released by the district administration reveals that the Coimbatore South has received a 71mm rainfall, followed by Chinnakalar 47mm in the span of 24 hours. In November, the rainfall recorded was 271.9mm, the highest for the month in the last 10 years. As against the month’s average of 92mm, the district has received 196% excess precipitation. The second highest rainfall in November was recorded in 2011, which was 243.1mm. As the rainfall events are getting extreme, Coimbatore experiences severe water logging problems across the city.
