The Health Department of Kerala has confirmed that the total cases of new variant in the State has risen to 15 now, with four more new cases.
Two cases of the new variant were detected in patients aged between 40 and 65. They are the family contacts of a 17-year-old patient in Thiruvananthapuram who returned from the UK on December 9.
The other two cases have been detected from a 32-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman who had retuned from Niger and the UK respectively. Karnataka and Delhi also have detected new cases.
With the total cases of the new variant have increased over 160 across the country, it posses threat of third wave in India.
