Coimbatore Airport is the only Indian airport in the list of world’s most punctual airports.
The Official Airline Guide has published a list of 20 on-time flights around the world. Accordingly, each airport is scored on the basis of On Time Performance (OTP) by evaluating whether the flights arriving and departing from the airport are on time.
Accordingly, 10 Japanese airports are included in the list of 20 airports. Apart from that, Japan occupies the top 4 positions in this list. It is followed by South Africa’s Durban King Shaka Airport at the fifth place. 6th, 7th, 10th, 11th, and 12th places have Japanese airports, as well as airports from Brazil, Panama, Peru, and Ecuador.
In this international ranking, Coimbatore Airport from Tamil Nadu is ranked 13th with an OTP of 88.01%. It is noteworthy that Coimbatore Airport is the only one in India that has been included in the list of 20 airports in the world with punctual flights.
