Coimbatore Railway Station awarded IGBC Platinum Award

For the first time among the southern railway stations, the Coimbatore railway station was presented the IGBC’s Platinum Award to the Salem Divisional Manager.
In 2018, the Ministry of Railways ordered all A1 rated railway stations in the country to get the green certificate. Chennai Central, Egmore, Madurai, Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Coimbatore railway stations are under A1 standard. The process of getting the green certificate for the Coimbatore railway station has been in full swing since 2019.
The essential works for obtaining this certification include construction of rainwater harvesting system, LED lights on solar power generation platforms, heat reflective paint on roofs, awareness paintings on roofs, drinking water facilities, planting of 2,000 saplings in Miyawaki system in an area of 500 square meters near the walkway were carried out actively.
With all the work completed, a few months ago a team from the Indian Green Building Council inspected the improved works and services at the Coimbatore railway station. Following this, on behalf of the Indian Green Building Council, the Platinum Award for Green Railway Stations was announced for Coimbatore Railway Station last month. Rajesh Lund,
