Brain dead 17 year old School Student gives life to nine persons

The deceased G.Vaitheeshwaran  Age 17,  survived by his Father Gopal (KGS) and Mother Vimaladevi  living at  Santhosh Nagar, Ettimadai Pirivu, Ettimadai, Coimbatore.  On the fateful day 02.11.2020  evening around 4.50pm, he met with an accident near Pollachi Road, Kovilpalayam. Immediately he was taken to nearby Private Hospital for first aid treatment, then after to KMCH Avanashi Road Coimbatore, for specialized treatment. During the treatment he didn’t respond much and was declared brain dead on Saturday.  

His Father Gopal (KGS) and Mother Vimaladevi said that Vaitheeshwaran had consented to donate his organs after her death. Accordingly we decided to donate his organs as per his wish. The organs – Heart, Lungs, liver, kidneys, eyes, Bone & Skin – were harvested from the body of the deceased in accordance with the regulations prescribed by the Transplant Authority, Govt. of Tamil Nadu. Liver and kidneys were donated to KMCH hospital, Eyes, Skin and Bone was sent to Private Hospital at Coimbatore. The Heart was sent to Private Hospital at Chennai. Lungs were sent to Private Hospital at Secunderabad. The family members felt proud that his organs gave new lease of lives to nine needy people.

The transplant surgeons at KMCH swung into action and swiftly made necessary arrangements to send the organs to the other hospital so that they reach the beneficiaries in time. Dr. Arun N Palaniswami, Executive Director, KMCH thanked the family of Vaitheeshwaran for their bold and timely decision on organ donation.
